About BellaBlueDanes

Tara Polley and Jake Nardin are responsible for BellaBlueDanes.

The decision to become breeders, was an easy one for us. We love Great Danes! We care about there wellbeing~ so much so that we decided this was something we needed to do. We felt it was necessary to not only to be reputable but also reasonable in our actions and make sure we gathered as much information as we could before starting this new adventure in our life. Believe me it has so far been an adventure.

Yes, this is new to us, I have been an animal lover all my life, my family fell in love with Great Danes!! I decided, I wanted a great dane for the rest of my life. We got our first danes (sisters) from a lady that rescued them from a "Breeder that was bad news". It saddened me that someone, calling themselves a breeder, could be so careless. So I researched breeding online, spoke with breeders, read books and really looked into what I would want for my dogs(most importantly). I am breeding for tempermant, longevity of life and companionship. Those are my goals, and that is what I will build my line on...but that is going to take time and years to achieve completely.

I do not show my dogs right now. I do not condemn showing of dogs at all, but I would much prefer my Great Dane to be the best dog in my house, rather then in the ring. I am not a breeding business, I love my dogs. I care about there well-being. I want to make sure that the families that are interested in our puppies are the best families for them. Great Danes are not for everyone. Anyone will tell you how many Danes are in shelters or rescues. I do encourage people to consider adopting a dane from a rescue, they need homes too.

However, I will not allow any of my puppies to end up in a shelter or rescue~ I will take ANY Dane that I have bred, back...I have stated that in my contracts...there will be penalties...

I own AKC Great Danes and CKC Great Danes, I love them all the same, makes no difference to me.

I believe adopting dane is like adopting a child...they have soooo many human qualities and my responsibility is to make sure their new parents are aware of this. Please do not feel like you are bombarding me, when you ask me questions, that is what I am here for. Really.

Tara has been known to love her dogs more then she loves most people...

When I am Old...

I shall wear Turquoise and soft gray sweatshirts...
and a bandana over my silver hair...
and I shall spend my Social Security Checks
on Sweet Wine and My Dogs...
and sit in my house on my well-worn chair,
and listen to my dog's breathing.

I will sneak out in the middle of a warm Summer night
and take my dogs for a run, if my old bones will allow...
and when people come to call,
I will smile and nod as I show them my dogs...
and talk of them and about them...
The Ones so Beloved of the Past
and the Ones so Beloved of Today....

I still will work hard cleaning after them
and mopping and feeding them
and whispering their names in a soft, loving way.
I will wear their gleaming drool on my throat like a jewel,
and I will be an embarrassment to all, and my family...
who have not yet found the peace in being free
to have dogs as your Best Friends....

These friends who always wait,
at any hour, for your footfall...
and eagerly jump to their feet out of a sound sleep,
to greet you as if you are a God.
With warm eyes full of adoring love
and hope that you will stay and hug their big, strong necks...
and kiss their dear sweet heads...
and whisper to them of your love and the
beautiful pleasure of their very special company....

I look in the Mirror...
and see I am getting old....
this is the kind of woman I am...
and have always been.
Loving dogs is easy, they are part of me,
accept me for who I am,
My dogs appreciate my presence in their lives...
When I am old this will be important to me...
you will understand when you are old....
and if you have dogs to love too.
